"You are 21st year-old right?", asked the nurse. "Yes", I said.
"Then you are allowed to sign the consent form, and please fill in your particulars."
5 months ago, I went to the hospital and had a breast check. Did the ultrasound and found there's a lump in my left breast. The doctor said the lump is harmless, so he put me under observation and come back again after 6 months.
Last week, I felt an uncomfortable pain from the lump, moreover the pain woke me up during my sleep. Something was wrong I thought, so I went to the hospital the next day to identify the pain. Same procedures, did the ultrasound and got back to the doctor for consultation. The feeling of waiting outside the doctor's clinic that day and 5 months before are very different. In July, I had this ignorant thinking because I didn't know what would the ended results be; on the other hand, after 5 months, I had studied more about the lump and breast diseases, so I kind of predicted what's gonna happen!
10 mins later, I was called to enter the clinic. "The lump is growing bigger!", the doctor said while I was putting my right foot into the room. I didn't know how to react, so I said "Oh....".
"Come lie down and let me check again.", (checks in progress), "this one has to be taken out!", the doctor said. He added, "because it is growing and it would not go away by itself! You will have the surgery on the coming Monday!"
"It will be the 29th of November", said the nurse.
I was sitting on the hospital bed and had no idea what's happening! I was blanked for a few seconds! What?! Surgery?!
I know there's nothing serious happen, but still you will feel your nerves running when the doctor told you that he wants to cut you open! So, the nurse and the doctor started asking me questions, "Can you come early Monday morning?", "Do you have insurance?", "Do you want to stay in the hospital one night before?", "Do you want a day care or you want to be admitted?", "You are not allowed to eat before the surgery................!"
Wow! That's hell a lot of stuff to be aware of! First time in my life to have surgery, even I keep my appendix well!
Later a while, the nurse gave me a piece of paper, it's the consent form for the surgery. I know what it is, it has to be signed by the surgeon, anesthesiologist and me. After few days, then I went for the surgery......
